Kabza De Small and Mthunzi scoop four Metro FM music gongs

Kabelo Motha, known as Kabza De Small alongside Mthunzi Ndimande, walked away victorious on Saturday night for their hit song Imithandazo.

Kabza and Mthunzi scooped four Metro FM Music Awards for Song of the Year, Best Amapiano, Best Produced Album, and Best Collaboration.

The Metro FM Music Awards took place at the Mbombela Stadium and were hosted by Tebogo ProVerb Thekisho and Luthando LootLove Shosha.

Speaking to Sunday World about the win, Mthunzi said he was grateful to have been given a chance by Kabza De Small and dedicated the win to his late mother.

“I am so honoured and now stressed out about what I will release next. Song of the Year goes to my mother for actually being the first person to believe in me and my talent,” he said.

In a previous interview with Sunday World, he shared that, after being away from the limelight, the collaboration on the Isimo EP gave life to his music career.

“I was quiet for quite some time and I was looking for something to make my comeback with. It was the perfect way to come back. And with Kabza being a bigger brand, it gave me exposure that I wasn’t anticipating,” he said.

Mthunzi wanted to challenge himself, and the amapiano genre was something he wanted to explore.

Pioneering musical legend Oscar Bonginkosi Mdlongwa, who has contributed to the SA music industry for over 26 years, was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

It is only the beginning of Lilitha's dreams coming true. Hopping into an interview with Lilitha, he starts off by saying how great the past few months have been. He has just finished producing the 1pm news bulletin and was about to start with the 7pm news bulletin, which he anchors on SABC. This has been his life since the first of April when he entered the Johannesburg SABC offices for the first time and not as a fan, but an employee of the national broadcaster. About four months prior to this day, Lilitha Ntsundwani recorded a video of himself outside the buildings, merely saying that one cannot enter the premises if they are not an official but in a news reader tone. In the very same video, he confidently says that he will one day be allowed entry into the building, because he ...
