Khayelitsha's favourite community radio station empowers youth with skills and opportunities

As part of Youth Month celebrations, the Khayelitsha FM urge high school learners, unemployed youth and graduates to attend the 4th  Annual Khayelitsha FM Youth Opportunities Expo in order to get connected to jobs and business opportunities. Learners from Grade 10 to 12 across all corners of Khayelitsha, including youth who are out of school, unemployed youth and graduates, and youth seeking inspirations and opportunity who are not yet sure with their career choices are all urged to make the right choice when choosing careers.

This free entry Expo forms part of commemorating the 30 Years of Democracy Anniversary in South Africa which coincides with the centenary of struggle stalwart, former president Nelson Mandela. The Youth Expo is part of Khayelitsha FM’s commitment to respond to the development of young people in Khayelitsha and surrounding areas.

The Khayelitsha FM Youtth Opportunities Expo this year will feature comprehensive ICT skills trainings, learning about the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, exploring career opportunities in the digital realm, connecting with industry experts and potential mentors, as well as discovering the latest advancements in cybersecurity and digital marketing. The expo also served as a platform for various opportunities, including internships, bursaries, ICT skills training, and employment for the youth.

The expo will be on the 8 June 2024 intending to assist the youth in Khayelitsha with various opportunities the ICT field and open up employment opportunities through partnering with key stakeholders. So far, more than 100 young people have benefitted through the expos. Khayelitsha Business Network Chairperson Mzi Kokose expressed his enthusiasm for the success of the Khayelitsha FM Youth Opportunities Expo.

Minister of Electricity Dr Sputla Ramokgopa

Another 400 MW is expected to come online by the end of May through the Standard Offer Programme. Another 100 MWh is being commissioned at Eskom's Worcester Battery Energy Storage System site, with a month and a half to go.
