Thuli Phongolo and DJ Maphorisa have ‘resolved the matter privately’ after charges withdrawn

DJ Maphorisa and Thuli Phongolo have released a joint statement.

Thuli Phongolo and DJ Maphorisa, real name Themba Sekowe, have “elected to resolve the matter privately through their respective management and legal teams”.

This after media personality Thuli laid charges of assault against Maphorisa. After one court appearance, she withdrew the charges.

In a joint statement, the two broke their silence on the matter.

They said they note the reports regarding the incident.

“The matter has received mixed public attention, causing a great deal of emotional stress on both parties involved.

“Both parties have noted with concern the disparaging, defamatory and (in some instances) untrue remarks, statements and reports emanating from the incident and view these in a serious light. The parties reserve the right to individually pursue legal action against persons making defamatory and/or false statements in relation to this matter.”

They both want to return to work now that they have privately resolved the matter, they say.

“Neither of the parties have any intention to allow this private matter to impact their respective, or other party’s brand and professional interests. They request the public to give them the time and space to return to their work unhindered.”
